Up until NOW hand tied wefts have been the top of the range in hair extensions... the bees knees shall I say! The weft we all used to create the flattest instal , and especially to create " invisible bead " or " concealed bead " applications. So now that the NEW genius weft has arrived, which do we prefer and why?
Well let's break it down nice and simple so that you can actually choose which you prefer, taking into consideration the issues you currently face as a stylist and your instals.
For me , the thing my clients struggle with when using the hand tied weft, is how damaged they can become at the top of the weft due to brushing rough, or a ' not so perfect ' instal . The other thing I absolutely HATE , is that goddam fringe! Not only does it get in the way when sewing , I find that it can also matte up easily , and create unwanted bulk or itch for the client. It also means I need to wash and dry them perfectly every instal to make sure the fringe stays well behaved .
Now , lets chat about the genius weft , and the things we love about it? Well it has no fringe for starters, THANK THE LORD . It aso comes in one long roll , so I can cut it to any length I prefer , rather than having to work around folding specifically for every section, which can be fiddly and difficult depending on how I am installing .
The Genius weft is also really quite strong and sturdy , even considering how fine the top is which I didn't actually expect at first, but am pleasantly surpised to see!
The only downfall to the new Genius weft, is that the very tops of them don't take to colour quite as well as hand tied wefts , which isn't an issues if you are colour matching quite close to start with.
All in all , I feel the positives outweight the negatives of this new Genius weft, and for me , I will be saying goodbye to hand tied wefts for good, and saying HELL YES to working with the new Deluxe flex ' Genius ' weft!.
